This volume contains papers selected for presentation at the Fourth International Workshop on Database Technologies for Handling XML Information on the Web (DataX'09), held in conjunction with the EDBT/ICDT conference in Saint-Petersburg (Russia) on March 22, 2009.
In response to the call for papers, 15 high quality submissions were received. Each paper was carefully reviewed by at least four members of the program committee and external reviewers. As result of this process, 5 papers have been selected as long papers and 3 as short papers for presentation at the workshop.The accepted papers cover a large variety of topics, ranging from query optimization, indexing structures, clustering, adptive query processings, views and mining of flexible association rules.
In addition, Sihem Amer-Yahia accepted our invitation to discuss new and interesting topics in XML and database research.
